The Secret to School Success: kids need to learn to learn

--

Yes, just like so many things that come with us when we are born, the ability of learning also needs to be developed from an early age.

Learning to learn, will give our kids that extra skill to be able to process more information, faster understanding and long-lasting knowledge.

You see, to pass the exams was never the purpose of education. Or at least should not be.

Honestly, most of us we do not remember the exact answers to our test questions by the following 10 days after an exam. Unless we learned how to learn the subject.

Grades and exams are stressful for many of the kids and especially on parents and educators unless you are prepared to and know how to learn to get good results without stress.

Homework, that is such a controversial subject these days /should or should we do not give homework for after school/ it is also a stress trigger for many parents and kids.

But this can all be managed easily when you learn to learn.

When I was in middle school, we used to have semester exams at the end of every semester a because the grade that you received for this exam was added to your 3 or 4 marks that you got during the semester, so it was really important to get a mark as high as you can.

From the point of a 12 years old was pretty stressful. As if you just memorized your subjects, or you did not learn on daily basics, it could be a pretty hard time during these tests.

I was lucky enough to have a wonderful primary school teacher for 4 years in my primary school.

She told us and repeat it many time: in school, we give you frames of every subject. Homework is like wiring the frame to be strong, and research is the picture inside. This must be built by you. You can`t and do not have to remember everything you learn in school but you can and have to remember where you can look for the answers.

So here is when it comes to successful learning:

The Path of Successful Learning is:

  1. Understand the basic
  2. Question all elements
  3. Active Research
  4. Visual Map
  5. Archive Only the Response

So, when you Archive the Response you will remember the few words that are the conclusion the answer to the question, but your brain will be able to recall the research and all the elements of the learning process instantly.

Benefits of learning to learn:

Your kids will be able to learn easily as they will have a strong foundation

Your kids will be engaged in the process of learning

Your kids will have a strong academic foundation

Your kids and YOU will never be stressed of exams and preparations for this days and events

Kids will be confident

Kids will be able to create and research solutions for all problems that will show up along the way.

Technology, the internet makes this simple. You can easily research and find answers and see connections.

The amount and speed of information is so big and grows more every second.

We definitively can`t know and comprehend all the information, but we can teach our kids to learn and so we can set them up for a successful life.

This is why we had developed the programs at SMART Playground so they can learn and practice the learning process and no matter what educational path / in school or at home, online/ they will follow they will know how to make the most of it while having fun and understanding the importance of knowledge.

Further, in life, they will be able to use every information to develop strategies, products that will serve them for a better quality of their lives.

Information is free now, so it is not anymore who has the information but about what we do with the information.

This is the age of knowledge, and the future is about how we respond and how we use our knowledge.

Happy Learning!
