What is Seamless Learning?

--

Seamless learning is a learning notion that emphasises the bridging of different learning efforts across a variety of learning settings (such as formal and informal learning, individual and social learning, and learning in physical and digital realms.

Learners must be encultured into becoming seamless learners. Successful implementation of seamless learning implies motivated instructors or teachers. It depends on the teacher’s ability to elicit what students have learned outside of the professional or educational setting and what they have learned informally, and to connect that learning to the formal.

The groundbreaking researcher on adult learning, Malcolm Knowles (see References), mentioned that “it is no longer functional to define education as a process of transmitting what is known; it must now be defined as a lifelong process of continuing inquiry.”

Of course, one essential element for success is the learner’s own motivation to learn. It is not possible to expect successful learning without the learner’s active participation.

How we motivate our kids at SMART Playground from a very early age:

1. Encouraging them all times to express their opinion about the subject

2. Get them involved all times

3. Offering small incentives

4.Drawing connections to Real Life

5. Acknowledging Contribution

The main goal is creating a learning environment where kids feel safe to express their ideas, where failure is a step in the learning process, where the other kids opinion is constructively expressed and they have time to learn how to handle the situations when their work or opinion is challenged.

Emotional Intelligence is the new measurement for success.

IQ is about information and knowledge, and honestly, now with information all around us it is not about how much you know, but it is about how you find and how you respond to that information.

Seamless learning is adapting learning to each student needs and learning skills and in the same time adjusting it to the group learning pattern.

SMART Playground is a place where kids not only can learn to learn through games and projects, but also a place where they became emotionally strong and prepared to respond to offline and online challenges.

Seamless learning is a part of changing and adapting education to the needs of the Alpha generation.

Alpha Generation are kids born since the year 2010 (and until the year 2025),generation Alpha are the children of millennials. … According to social researcher Mark McCrindle, 2.5 million members of Generation Alpha are born every week around the world.

They are the generation that do not understand a world without technology.

We need to allow them to show us what they know and how they understand and allow them to learn their way.

It is time to turn teaching into facilitating. More about this in the next note.

Looking forward to hear from you /parents, educators/ until next time!
